Welcome to the Neighborhood!

Dinkin Donuts

Dunkin Donuts is bringing their hot coffee and donut goodness to FreeMoreWest.  The newest addition to our community is slated to open in a short 9 weeks giving us all something to smile about.  The store will open in the 3,300 sq. ft former bank building across the Morehead Street from Pinky’s that was built in 1951.  The property is being redeveloped jointly by the Browder Group Real Estate, LLC,  and Pace Commercial, LLC.

Ark Ventures Inc.is also making the move to our neighborhood and  is preparing to renovate an approximately 18,000-square-foot building on West Morehead Street for creative office space and perhaps a restaurant.

The building, 1213 West Morehead, went into foreclosure in 2012. Ark Ventures, headed by Rick and Noah Lazes, purchased the building from Community One Bank in February. Ark Ventures is best known in the area for its N.C. Music Factory development.

FreeMoreWest 5k Run

Anthony Deresh moved to Charlotte in 1999 to open his first quick service franchise restaurant in the Lake Norman area.  After ten-years of franchised success he decided it was time to branch out and start a restaurant of his own.

It didn’t take long for Anthony to decide that FreeMoreWest would be home to his newest endeavor, Picante.  He really liked the growth that FreeMoreWest was experiencing and is excited about the future of the neighborhood.  Picante officially opened its doors at 1500 West Morehead in April 2012 and now proudly serves fresh food daily.

Picante’s menu includes Mexican favorites you would expect like slow roasted pork, shredded beef and the popular Picante herb chicken.  They also feature limited time specials like Philly cheesesteak burritos, or  chicken, bacon and guacamole burrito. To get the whole Picante experience you should wash down your freshly made guacamole and salsa with a Mexican CocaCola or a Cerveza.

Anthony can’t wait to see what the future holds for his business in FreeMoreWest and looks forward to opening new locations in the future.

Picante also sells Charlotte's very own handcrafted King of Pops popsicles that are made in the NoDa neighborhood using all natural ingredients.  To name just a few, they carry: Strawberry lemonade, Salted caramel, Key Lime Pie and Banana Pudding flavors.  They change out the flavors often so stop by and see what's in this week.
