OPENING SOON IN FMW
|TOSSIN FOR TYKES
SEPTEMBER 13 - BRYANT PARK
Rob Rondolez, the manager of Common Market SouthEnd is excited to announce to FreeMoreWest that he will be opening a new market called Rhino Market & Deli in The Browder Group’s Morehead Corners at 1500 West Morehead, behind The Burger Company and Picante in between the Buddhist Center and Charlotte Fencing Academy.
“My vision is to create a place that brings together the communities of Camp Greene, Wesley Heights and Bryant Park and offers them a place to gather for breakfast, coffee, lunch or drinks,” commented Rob Rondolez, operating owner of Rhino Market & Deli.
“There’s so much happening in the [FreeMoreWest] area, I was immediately attracted to the location,” added Rob.
Rhino Market & Deli has been looking at Wesley Heights for a whole year and will start the interior upfit this week. Depending on permitting, he hopes to open the store in November (so we'll just count on December). Stay tuned for announcements about Grand Opening events!
Thank you goes to Betsy Browder for bringing another great tenant to the area!
On September 13, Charlotte West and Charlotte Evening Rotary Clubs will host Tossin' for Tykes, a cornhole tournament, to benefit the Council for Children's Rights. The round-robin tournament will begin at 11am and will be held at Bryant Park in the heart of FreeMoreWest.
The purpose of the event is to support the Council for Children's Rights (CFCR) which works to ensure every child in Mecklenburg County is safe, healthy and educated. The nonprofit organization provides legal representation to approximately 2,500 children annually and addresses community-wide issues for all children in Mecklenburg County through research, policy advocacy, and community planning.
Tournament participants will compete in one of three championships. Each division will include a round robin followed by single elimination rounds:
$50 per team includes a free t-shirt for each player.
Competitors will be eligible to win up $500 or more in cash prizes for winners and other prizes for runners-up. The event will feature live music and a DJ, food trucks and drink vendors.

|DRAUGHT CHARLOTTE OPENS ON CEDAR|
Draught Charlotte officially opened to the public last month on Cedar Street in the shadow of the Bank of America Stadium just in time for the Panthers' preseason opener. It’s not only Charlotte’s newest upscale sports and craft beer bar which has 34+ beers on tap (owner Jason Astephen, who owns Prohibition in Charlotte knows his stuff), but also serves up delicious food from two Johnson & Wales alumnae, exec chef Tony Maiolo and sous Bruce Florio.
They offer lunch, dinner, game day and late night menus that go well beyond basic bar food. Their appetizers take some classics and turn them on their head like Root Beer or Cheerwine BBQ wings, or crab stuffed deviled eggs, but offer some new “soon to be classics” like an egg roll of the week or pimento cheese fritters. Want something healthier? Try a Cranberry Apple Salad with grilled chicken and maple cider vinaigrette or Warm Kale salad. Their entrees are definitely beyond what you’d expect from a bar: how about a Crown Royal Maple Glazed Smoked Duck Breast over a bed of wilted Purple Kale and Wild Rice or Hoisin Glazed Scallops over cucumber slaw and Orange Jalapeno Vinaigrette. At lunch, they offer lots of sandwiches and burgers including a lemon dijon salmon burger and Pulled Turkey, cornbread and cranberry sandwich. They also have a kids menu for the little people.
The space is rustic chic with lots of reclaimed wood and industrial light fixtures. They are finishing up furnishing their patio and downstairs room, which can be rented out for private parties.
