Compare Foods

Compare Foods, a specialty supermarket chain with an international focus, has recently opened a new store in the FreeMoreWest community.

With this most recent addition, Compare Foods now operates 21 stores that span New York City, Long Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, North Carolina and South Carolina- the newly established location at 2701 Freedom Drive, will be the fifth store in the Charlotte area.

Compare Foods, known for competitive pricing and produce, offers West Side consumers in-demand ethnic ingredients, fresh and exotic produce and imported beer. Non-food services include a cell phone retailer, ATM, check cashing and money transfer.

Compare Foods Supermarkets expand beyond food-based initiatives. This vision includes an unwavering commitment to the community through the support of youth services and non-profit organizations.

The Three Rs for Back To School

Compare Foods

Back-to-school shopping can be stressful for both parents and children due to the long lists of expensive items to acquire. Rather than dreading shopping, Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont asks parents to consider how to enjoy the season and help kids learn something new, have an impact in the community and save money. All of this can be accomplished by following the three Rs.
  1. Research:  Instead of approaching the back-to-school season with a hurried dash to the mall, kids and parents can use it as an opportunity to learn about how they can help the community. At the Donate Movement website, families can easily discover the impact their used goods can have. For example, three pairs of gently used jeans provide 31 minutes of career counseling.

  2. Reuse: Young people can make an impact by cleaning out the closets and donating gently used clothing and other items to Goodwill, where their value will be turned into job training and placement programs. They can also purchase reused items for school so that the value of what they buy also goes directly back into helping our community.

  3. Revisit: By returning to Goodwill throughout the year, parents can make sure they’re buying only items they really need. Returning later also means they can likely find some must-have school items at deeply discounted prices in just a few months.
This back-to-school season, remember to shop at your local Goodwill store to get savings on your classroom essentials!
