NEW HOMES IN FMW
|GRINNELL WATER WORKS BUILDING -
Take a quick drive down Millerton Avenue, and it’s evident that major changes are occurring in FreeMoreWest. Rows of Ryan Homes’ SOLD signs indicate that new neighbors will be filling the Bryant Park community before the end of the year which means great news for local business owners and restaurateurs. Starting October 1, prospective buyers will have the opportunity to tour the newest models and residents will begin moving in to their new homes.
After gathering feedback from potential homeowners, Ryan Homes added well-appointed interior features such as granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and an exterior garage option that undoubtedly contributed to the 17 presold properties (8 single family, 9 townhomes) in the community. The properties offer up to 2,500 square feet of living space and up to 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Interested buyers are encouraged to schedule a visit online or call 704.421.1619 for more information.
If you’ve driven down W. Morehead Street this summer you’ve surely noticed all the work going on in the Grinnell Water Works Building by Edifice general contractors (and building owner). Kristy Venning, Beacon Partners Leasing Agent, filled us in on all the details!
The building’s addition is almost complete and ready for tenant upfits. They currently have 28,300 sq. ft. ready to lease and are willing to work with one tenant or subdivide for many if need be. The Grinnell General Fire Extinguisher Company building, which faces Morehead Street, has three floors including the ground floor space and is an amazing mix of old and new. The full-service building also has a rooftop terrace with gorgeous skyline views for tenants’ enjoyment and an expansive lobby. The original part of the building retains its architectural integrity and features the same hardwoods, bricks and beams that were installed in 1929 when the building opened. Grinnell’s manufacturing building is still in its original place, behind the updated Company building facing Bryant Street, with the distinctive M-shaped roof.
"We've been getting a lot of excitement about the growith in the corridor and been receiving great feedback on the juxtaposition of old and new architectural details in this building. There's just not a whole lot out there like it," said Venning.
Fun fact: Grinnell General Fire Extinguisher Company, later called the Grinnell Corp., occupied the building from the time it was built in 1929 through 1990 - they were the country’s first sprinkler system manufacturer. For more building history click here.
